When the 12-year-old Eduard asked his father why he was so famous he got the answer:
“When a blind beetle crawls over the surface of the globe, he doesn't realize that the track he has covered is curved. I was lucky enough to have spotted it.”


Als der 12jährige Eduard seinen Vater fragte, warum er so berühmt sei, erhielt er die Antwort:
"Siehst du, wenn ein blinder Käfer über die Oberfläche einer Kugel krabbelt, merkt er nicht, dass der Weg, den er zurücklegt, gekrümmt ist. Ich hingegen hatte das Glück, es zu merken."

    
Quando il dodicenne Eduard chiese a suo padre perché era così famoso ottenne questa risposta:
"Quando uno scarafaggio cieco striscia sulla superficie di un globo, non si rende conto che il tragitto che ha ricoperto è curvo. Io invece ho avuto la fortuna di avere notato che lo era.".
